By age 11, Rosario’s father Felice was already sweeping floors in a barbershop in Italy. By 13, he was holding the straight razor himself. His path took him through England, France, and Germany before he landed in Canada, where he opened a shop in downtown Toronto’s financial district; the kind of place where clients waited, not because they had to, but because it was worth the wait.
Rosario grew up in that shop, spending 18 years between school and working beside his father, learning the parts of the craft that don’t show up in a course: the eye for what someone looks best in and what they ask for. Today, that traditional craft lives on at Frano’s, a family barbershop in Abbotsford.
